Reducing our environmental impact and our Ethics

With the world struggling with growing plastic and non-biodegradable waste, it is our responsibility as a company to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

We have taken the time to look into the best packaging practices, and find ways for you to recycle, re-use or biodegrade items purchased from us.

Not everything can be recycled or biodegrade, but we have made all efforts to provide options where possible.

Where we need to use plastic to contain products we have used bio-degradable and easily recyclable options where available.  Though some wet products require packaging for transport in water proof packaging by law, and we may need to use non recyclables for this. We are constantly searching for suitable alternatives.

We have kept the amount of packaging we use for our products to a minimum and have used the most eco friendly materials we can.

Supplier practices: Our overseas supply chain have facilities in place to lessen their environmental impact, including a sewage treatment set up, which prevents any chemical waste reaching the water supply.  They also recycle and have a lovely vegetable garden!

Professional extensions:  We have sourced recyclable packaging for these, and they are reusable.  When you are finished with them, the card insert can be composted or recycled with your cardboard waste, and will the poly bags are also recyclable.  You will need to check with your local council which facilities accept them.  There is also Terracycle who recycle items that are not usually accepted elsewhere.

Human hair:  Human hair is a great resource when no longer wanted.  We have two options for recycling your extensions.

1)  You can donate it to the little princesses trust, who use it to make wigs for young cancer patients. Read more here: www.littleprincesses.org.uk

2) You can donate it to Matter of Trust, an organisation who use the hair for such tasks as environmental clean ups, packing the hair into booms to soak up oils from ocean spills. Read more here: www.matteroftrust.org

Please ensure any resin is cut from the ends of the hair, and that it has been cleaned prior to sending.  Check the individual websites for their shipping requirements and whether they are accepting donations at this time.

Our shipping packaging:  We ship using cardboard boxes, paper padded bags, or plastic postage bags all of which can be recycled or biodegrade. Any plastic postage bags are made of  50mu coextruded film, which is 100% recyclable and degradable (check your local facilities for the correct place to recycle it), or our eco bags which  are an eco-friendly alternative to standard polythene mailing bags, produced from sugar cane, the greenest material on the market.  They are fully recyclable 50 micron material and they are carbon neutral – the carbon dioxide taken from the atmosphere in the growing process, offsets the carbon dioxide emitted through production and transport.

Product packaging: Please see individual bottles and tubs for recycling information, or re-use.

Whilst some items may not be able to be recycled at this time, our aim as a company is to reduce as much waste as possible, and keep you as a customer informed on all options when buying from us, so that we can supply these products responsibly.

Cosmetic ingredients and Ethical practices

Our products are manufactured ethically and comply with strict cosmetic regulations and safety procedures. We ensure that all of our products have had complete safety tests and are registered as fit for purpose and safe for use as cosmetics.

All pigments are eco-friendly and cosmetic grade, safe for use on the lips and as eye shadows, and do not contribute to adding micro plastic to our environment, we do not sell glitter.

Our cosmetic packaging is recyclable where possible. Some allowances have to be made with cosmetics whereby certain packaging is required to maintain the shelf-life of the product.  This helps to prevent wastage as less product is discarded as it keeps fresh for longer.

It is important to us that our products are sourced and supplied ethically. This is why all of our products are cruelty-free and NEVER tested on animals. . Colours are Carmine/cochineal free.

Products are all vegan where possible with a few exceptions where the information is clearly stated as to why on the product listing, you can also view the ingredients. We are working to formulate vegan alternatives.  We urge you to research the ingredients yourselves to be sure.  Where we have labelled a product as vegan, this is because our suppliers have derived the ingredients via vegan friendly methods.
WE NEVER TEST ON ANIMALS. WE ARE PETA-CERTIFIED CRUELTY-FREE.
We currently only sell in the UK.

All of our natural pigment is sourced ethically and responsibly by our manufacturing partners who are part of the Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI). We avoid sourcing Mica in India as we DO NOT and WILL NOT support child labour. Our Mica is sourced from companies with ethics equal to our own, though some special effects shades such as the multi-chrome pigments are carefully sourced from a very well established ethical supplier in PRC, as they are the creators and only true source. They have been carefully vetted and follow all UK and EU regulations concerning cosmetic production and safety. They DO NOT test on animals or allow that anywhere in their supply chain. They DO NOT source from India or support child labour in any way.

We hope that you share our ethics on makeup and skincare, proving it is possible to have beautiful products without cruelty and damage to the environment.
Please feel free to ask any questions, ingredients are listed on the product listings. All information on the safety of the products is kept on file. Note that we cannot give out supplier information as proof of sourcing, but are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Our foiling on our branding is eco friendly and recyclable. We only use printers who use eco friendly processes whereby the foil is applied in a thin layer which can be easily broken down and dissipate in the recycling process.

We also use Eco Cart to help in becoming carbon neutral by supporting causes all over the world. Check out our Carbon Neutral Shopping page for more information.
